The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted a raid on Shuchona Foundation, founded under the leadership of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s daughter Saima Wazed Putul. This information was confirmed by ACC Public Relations Officer Md. Akhtarul Islam.

On Wednesday, the official of the agency said that an ACC Enforcement team is conducting a raid on Shuchona Foundation located at Dhanmondi 27 in the capital. It is led by Assistant Director Md. Nowshad.

Shuchona Foundation, established in 2014 as a voluntary and non-profit organization, works with people with mental disabilities, neurological disabilities, autism and mental health problems. Saima Wazed is its founder and chairperson of the board of trustees. There are allegations of various irregularities and corruption in the organization.

Earlier, on November 25, the financial intelligence agency Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) froze the bank accounts of Shuchona Foundation. All transactions conducted by Shuchona Foundation were suspended under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2012.

On January 12, the ACC filed a case against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima Wazed Putul and 16 others, including the Secretary of the Ministry of National Housing and Public Works, after finding evidence of abusing power to obtain a 60-katha plot in Purbachal.

On January 14, the ACC filed two separate cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy on the same charge of abusing power to obtain a plot from RAJUK.
