Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma has claimed that no one from Bangladesh tried to enter India after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. However, he requested the Prime Minister of his country, Narendra Modi, to pressure the Bangladesh government to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of the people of the Hindu community.
PTI quoted Himanta Biswa Sharma as saying, ‘Hindus are in Bangladesh and they are fighting (to survive). Not a single Hindu person has been caught trying to enter India in the last one month.
On the contrary, several Muslim persons from the neighboring country have tried to cross the border to seek employment in India’s garment sector, the Chief Minister of Assam said. He said, “In the last one month, 35 Muslims have been arrested while entering India. But they did not come to stay in Assam. They wanted to go to Bengaluru and Tamilnadu, Coimbatore to work in garment factories.
Himanta Vishwasharma also said, “We have requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to put pressure on the Bangladesh government to ensure the safety of Hindus.”
On August 5, Sheikh Hasina’s government fell in the face of a student-public coup. After that, there were attacks on houses and places of worship of the Hindu community in different parts of the country. Fearing this, many gathered at the Indian border.
