13 police members withdrawn in Sylhet

13 police members of the district police have been temporarily withdrawn for irregularities and corruption in Sylhet. Later, they were attached to the Sylhet Police Lines. They were working in the Companiganj Police Station. Among them, two SIs, two ASIs and 9 constables.

On Monday (February 10), an order signed by Sylhet Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Md. Raselur Rahman, signed them.

It is learned that locals started extracting stones by cutting the Shah Arefin tiller of Companiganj Upazila. Some police members of Companiganj Police Station were accused of extorting money from the tiller stone-carrying vehicle. Some such pictures and videos went viral on social media. News about this was also published in various media. After the news was published, they were withdrawn and attached to the Sylhet Police Lines.

The withdrawn officers are SI Khokon Chandra Sarkar and Milan Fakir, ASI Shishir Ahmed Mukul and Shamim Hasan, Constables Nazmul Ahsan, Munna Chowdhury, Naimur Rahman, Tushar Pal, Abu Hanif, Sakhawat Sadi, Sagar Chandra Das, Mehedi Hossain, and Kipes Chandra Roy.

Sylhet Police Superintendent Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman confirmed the truth of this matter. He said that for now they will not be given any other job. Further action will be taken after the investigation.
