Talks between US and Russian representatives to end the Ukraine war have begun in Saudi Arabia. The talks began on Tuesday (February 18). The British media outlet BBC reported this information in a report.
The American side stressed that today’s (Tuesday) meeting is not to start war talks, but to determine whether Russia is ‘serious’ in ending the Ukraine war.
Russia has said that their priority is to normalize relations with the United States.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Riyadh on Monday (February 17) local time. On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent his foreign minister and top adviser to Saudi Arabia for meetings with US officials.
Who will be in the Russian-US delegation?
The country’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and the Kremlin’s foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov will be present from the Russian side in these expected talks.
On the other hand, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz, and White House Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff will be on the US side.
