Former Additional DIG Gazi Mozammel Haque has become the owner of assets worth over Tk 6,000 crore by abusing his power. He is also accused of grabbing other people’s land. Recently, the court ordered the seizure of land and bank accounts in the names of Mozammel Haque, his wife and children.
In the Rupganj area of Narayanganj, cropland, playgrounds, and water bodies have been filled with sand as far as the eye can see. Some land was bought for a nominal price, but the rest was occupied. Brutal torture was done whenever anyone tried to stop them. Additional DIG Gazi Mozammel Haque was behind all this.
The same scene was also seen on Hindu Para Road in Rupganj. The Anand Housing Authority has erected a wall in the middle of the road. Due to this boundary, people from the surrounding area are unable to travel through Hindu Para Road.
Although the Anand Police family has been occupying the land in the name of the Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the owner on paper is Farzana Mozammel, the wife of Gazi Mozammel Haque. And her company is named Anand Properties Limited. This company owns 3,000 bighas of land. The estimated market value of which is more than 6,000 crore taka.
This 17th BCS police cadre officer has earned a lot by disguising the names of his seniors. Sometimes he would take them to his luxurious farm house in the project area of Rupganj. Sometimes he would use these senior officials in showdowns.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating the illegal assets of DIG Gazi Mozammel Haque. On Wednesday (February 19), following an application by the ACC, the court ordered the seizure of 65 bighas of land in his name and 28 bank accounts in the name of the family. In addition, the land in the names of his wife Farzana Mozammel and daughter Bushra Tabassum has also been ordered to be seized.
