Chief Advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, said, we are now stronger, more energetic and more creative than ever before. The dreams of our young generation are bolder than those of any previous generation. Just as they want to create a new Bangladesh, they also want to create a new world with the same confidence.
He said this at the ‘Ekushey Padak-2025’ ceremony at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday (February 20).
Dr. Yunus said, our young generation wants to lead in creating a new world. They are ready to lead. Boys are ready, girls are ready. They want to build a new civilization of their dreams by breaking free from the shackles of a self-destructive civilization. The main goal of the civilization will be to ensure equal rights for every person on all the resources of the world. To ensure every person has every opportunity to dream and realize that dream. To develop the lifestyle of people in such a way that the existence of the earth is not disturbed in any way and the healthy survival of all living beings on earth is not disturbed in any way.
The Chief Advisor said, I congratulate the eminent personalities of the country who have been awarded the Ekushey Padak today on behalf of the countrymen. The nation is particularly grateful for your contribution. You are the guide of the nation. Inspired by your contribution, the nation will establish itself in a continuously better position in the United Nations with firm faith.
Muhammad Yunus said, the opportunity has come through the uprising of students, workers and the masses on August 5 to build a new Bangladesh. Today, at this medal presentation ceremony, I deeply remember with deep respect all the brave students, workers and masses who sacrificed their lives and were injured in various struggles for the motherland, the language movement of 1952, the great liberation war of 1971 and the mass uprising of 1924.
He said, this time, Amar Ekushey has come before us with a new significance. We know that Ekushey February is an indestructible monument of our identity. Ekushey February is the lifeblood of our freedom consciousness. In this February of 1952, the student community stood up to protest the unjust decision imposed by the Pakistani rulers on the issue of the state language. They established Bengali as the state language by pouring fresh blood on the streets of Dhaka. It was through this language movement that an incredible awakening of our freedom consciousness was created.
He also said, today, on this memorable day of celebrating the great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day 2025, we wish that this dream of the youth may be realized soon. I express my gratitude to those who have shown the way in creating the future of the country and have been recognized by the nation today and congratulate them once again.
