The decision on who will be in the top positions of the new party led by the Anti-discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee is almost final. All the top positions are familiar faces who led the July-August mass uprising. The list is being finalized at the last minute. The name of the party may be finalized by now. Although the official debut date is not finalized, preparations are being made with February 24 in mind. However, the ceremony may be postponed two days to February 26, understanding the situation. Workers and supporters from all over the country will come to Dhaka on this day to participate in the debut ceremony. Various committees and subcommittees have been formed to complete the party formation process in an orderly manner. This information was learned after talking to several leaders.

Last-minute analysis is underway inside and outside the organization on who will be in the top leadership of the new political party. Responsible leaders are spending a busy time determining the leadership. It is known that the top two positions of the new political party have already been finalized. Among them, the interim government’s advisor Md. Nahid Islam is almost certain to be the convener and the member secretary position may be held by Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the National Citizens Committee. They have already been given the green signal by the organization. The remaining positions are also almost finalized.

National Citizens Committee convener Nasiruddin Patwari, spokesperson Samantha Sharmin, joint convener Ariful Islam Adib, joint member secretary Anik Roy may be given the responsibility as the joint convener of the new party.

Anti-discrimination Student Movement member secretary Arif Sohel, National Citizens Committee joint convener Sarwar Tushar and Anti-discrimination Student Movement spokesperson Umama Fatema may be given the responsibility as the joint member-secretary.

Anti-discrimination Student Movement convener Hasnat Abdullah is reportedly getting the responsibility as the spokesperson of the new party. In addition, National Citizens Committee chief organizer Sarjis Alam may be given the responsibility as the party’s chief organizer. At the same time, it is learned that many others who led in July-August will hold important positions in the new party. However, no final decision has been made on the positions yet. It is learned that discussions are underway within the party on the issues.

Although the leadership is almost finalized, the name of the new party has not been finalized. The information from the form obtained from the public opinion survey program titled ‘A New Bangladesh in Your Eyes’ is being reviewed. Several opinions including ‘democracy’, ‘citizen’, ‘justice’, and ‘anti-discrimination’ have emerged in this public opinion survey. The leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee want to determine the name of the party by giving importance to these opinions and aspirations of the people at the last minute. According to several responsible leaders, the date for the debut of the new party has not yet been finalized. However, preparations are being made with February 24 in mind. Considering their own convenience, the leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens Committee may announce the party two days later, on February 26. Preparations have been made for the debut of the new party at the Central Shaheed Minar on this day. However, as an alternative, the debut ceremony may also be held at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens’ Committee want to ensure a large number of people to attend the launch of the new party. They especially want to ensure the participation of workers and supporters from all over the country. For this, a preparatory committee has been formed with 68 people from the National Citizens’ Committee and 30 leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Three separate subcommittees on cultural, medical and media issues have also been formed from among them. At the same time, a subcommittee has also been formed to analyze and evaluate public opinion on the recently launched campaign ‘A New Bangladesh in Your Eyes’ about the new political party.
