Abdul Majid (45) was walking on the railway line, talking on his mobile phone. At that time, he was crushed to death by the intercity Egarsindur Express train from Kishoreganj to Dhaka.
The accident occurred on Monday (February 24) morning in the Siddheshwari Kali Temple area next to Kishoreganj Railway Station.
The deceased Majid is said to be a resident of Bhati Baratia village in Nikli upazila of the district.
Kishoreganj Railway Police Station OC Md. Liton Mia confirmed the incident. Quoting an eyewitness, he said that Abdul Majid was walking on the railway line, talking on his mobile phone. When the train came near, people shouted loudly to warn him, but he did not hear. As a result, he was crushed to death by the train.
Upon receiving the information, the GRP police recovered the body. The relatives of the deceased have been informed. Further legal action will be taken in this regard.
