Dhaka //

The Election Commission (EC) has issued eight directives to prevent entry of ‘undesirable’ persons into the election building. The Chief Security Officer has already started implementing the directives. In this regard, stricter entry into the election building has been imposed.

The restrictions were imposed in an office order signed by EC Chief Security Officer Shahid Abdus Salam on Thursday (February 27).

It said that in order to maintain security and order in the election building and to preserve a work-friendly environment, the Election Commission Secretariat will be fenced off and the movement of people inside will be restricted until further orders are issued.

The directives are: – Official pass/identity card must be used to enter and stay in the election building and it must be kept hanging; Card-holding officers and employees will use the archway and metal detector before entering the Election Commission Secretariat and will ensure that the bags/items carried with them are scanned through the baggage scanner.

Card-holding officers/employees will ensure digital attendance through the specified gate using the flap barrier transtile entrance access control while entering and exiting the building; When visitors or service seekers enter the Election Building, they will record the information of the entrant in the register/computer and receive the visitor card, hang it around their neck in a visible manner and enter through the flap barrier transtile entrance access control gate; Visitors/service seekers will only go to the floor of the building to which they are granted access and will stay there for the required time. They will return the visitor card before leaving the Election Building.

No officer/employee will go out of the Election Building during office hours without the permission of the concerned senior officer for special needs; Before leaving the office, everyone must safely store the documents of their own division/branch/division and leave the office by turning off computer equipment, AC, electric fan, lights, doors and windows, etc. and no officer/employee should stay in the building or their own office for an extended period of time except for official needs.

In this regard, Deputy Secretary Shahid Abdus Salam told reporters that this order has been issued to ensure security. It will remain in force until further orders.
