Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that there are many institutions in Bangladesh. However, Anjuman Mufidul Islam has not only survived for such a long time as an institution, but they are also conducting their activities vigorously by burying unclaimed bodies and nurturing orphans. I do not know whether such an institution can be found in the subcontinent. It is continuing its activities as a historical and unique institution.
He said this while delivering a speech at the prayer and iftar mahfil of Anjuman Mufidul Islam in the Kakrail area of the capital on Monday.
Earlier, Chief Advisor inaugurated Anjuman Mufidul Islam’s new building, Anjuman JR Tower. Later, he had iftar with the orphans.
Professor Yunus said in his speech, no matter how difficult and difficult the situation, Anjuman Mufidul Islam buries unclaimed bodies and they are doing this work all over the country. Especially during the pandemic coronavirus, the name of this organization has come up repeatedly.
Mentioning that Anjuman Mufidul Islam is a traditional organization, the Chief Advisor said that Anjuman Mufidul Islam waits for unclaimed bodies wherever they are. However, they never make statements or publish news about it in newspapers.
He said that the name of this organization is associated with the history of Bangladesh and the Muslim society. It is a traditional organization of our society.
He mentioned that he feels fortunate to have the opportunity to see their activities in person at the Anjuman Mufidul Islam building.
Stating that he does not want to see any more unclaimed bodies anywhere, Professor Yunus said, Anjuman Mufidul Islam should continue the work of burying unclaimed bodies, but each of us should aim to ensure that there are no more unclaimed bodies. Let us create a society where the bodies that Anjuman Mufidul Islam is burying will no longer exist. Burial is good, but our aim is that no one’s body should remain unclaimed. We must try from wherever we are so that no one becomes unclaimed after death.
Calling on the countrymen to eliminate the existing weaknesses of the society, Professor Yunus said, “Let us eliminate the weaknesses that exist in the society. Each of us should work for the society from our own place.”
The Chief Advisor expressed his gratitude to those who have been running service organizations like Anjuman Mufidul Islam for a long time with their labor, talent, and money.
He said, “I hope that the programs of this organization will be expanded in many directions.”
Anjuman Mufidul Islam’s new building ‘Anjuman JR Tower’ has been constructed at a cost of Tk 90 crore. Of this, the government has financed Tk 26 crore including VAT waiver. The remaining amount was received from individual donations.
Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed, Food and Land Advisor Ali Imam Majumder, Anjuman Mufidul Islam Trustee Golam Rahman, Anjuman Mufidul Islam President Mufleh R Osmani, among others, spoke at the Iftar Mahfil.
