BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that a well-planned conspiracy to postpone the national election is underway.
He said this virtually at a press conference after a joint meeting of BNP and its affiliates at the Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan in the capital on Tuesday. The joint meeting was held on the occasion of the 44th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman. Mirza Fakhrul, who is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bangkok, Thailand, joined the meeting and presided over it virtually.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, a new possibility has been created in exchange for the blood of thousands of students and the public. We see a black shadow looming over the establishment of democracy and a truly modern Bangladesh that is free from fascism. A very well-planned plan has been started to postpone the elections, deprive the people of their rights and deprive them of their right to vote.
Today, those who are conspiring against Bangladesh; those who kept Bangladesh under a fascist regime for 15 years – are still conspiring from across the border to deprive the people of their rights and create obstacles in the path of development in Bangladesh. Even at this time, we must remember the name of martyred President Ziaur Rahman again.
Commenting on the politics of division having started again, Mirza Fakhrul said, an attempt is being made to create division among tribes here. A conspiracy and plot has started to pit various government institutions against each other. We can see that some people who have infiltrated the government; are trying to take Bangladesh in a different direction by infiltrating it, trying to influence it in different sectors.
He said, a great responsibility always falls on the BNP. That responsibility is the responsibility of establishing democracy, the responsibility of rebuilding Bangladesh anew. That responsibility is the dream that martyred President Ziaur Rahman had, the dream that our national leader Begum Khaleda Zia started working to realize – now the young leader BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is leading to build Bangladesh through a new dream. In order to realize the hopes and aspirations of Bangladesh and the people of the country, every leader and activist of BNP today has to do their work very vigilantly and consciously and stand against any conspiracy and plot.
Addressing the leaders and activists, the BNP Secretary General said, so that no one can ever take away the independence of Bangladesh, so that no one can destroy the sovereignty of Bangladesh, so that no one can ever suppress the democracy of Bangladesh with fascism and tyranny, every BNP activist has to play that role today. On this 44th martyrdom anniversary, today is not mourning, we want to turn mourning into all our strength.
Mirza Fakhrul said, those who are conspiring against Bangladesh today; those who kept Bangladesh under a fascist regime for 15 years – are still conspiring from across the border to deprive the people of their rights in Bangladesh and to create obstacles in the path of development. Even at this time, we must remember the name of martyred President Ziaur Rahman again and again.
