Inspector General of Police (IGP) said that Bangladesh Police is committed to providing overall security to the people including the minority community. Moinul Islam.
He said this in a courtesy meeting with the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement at the police headquarters on Monday (September 2).
In the meeting, the student leaders complained that miscreants have vandalized the houses of the minority community and attacked them sporadically in the border areas of the country such as Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Panchagarh, Jessore and some other places.
The IGP said that Bangladesh Police is committed to providing overall security to the people including the minority communities. He sought the cooperation of the people associated with the anti-discrimination student movement and the people of different classes and professions of the society for the security of the lives and property of the people including the minority communities.
He said that the police headquarters has already given necessary instructions to the concerned units to investigate every incident of attack on minorities with due importance. Appropriate directions have also been given to arrest the criminals involved in such heinous activities and take necessary legal action and ensure the protection of the victims and their families.
