A joint operation will be started across the country including the capital from 12 pm today (Tuesday) to recover illegal weapons and drugs and arrest the criminals. This operation will be conducted by army, police, RAB, BGB, Coast Guard and Ansar members. It has been clearly stated by the Ministry of Home Affairs that the campaign against the perpetrators will continue regardless of party affiliation. In addition to recovering illegal weapons and arresting those involved in the same, importance will also be given in this operation.

On Tuesday (September 3) afternoon, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a warning notice to the public to protect law and order in the country. It says, ‘On August 5, the anti-discrimination student movement led by the student movement led to the overthrow of the authoritarian government, and the interim government took over. The brutal force used by the fallen government to quell the popular uprising resulted in many deaths and casualties.

Many people have been subjected to various tortures such as abductions, disappearances and extrajudicial killings during the long-term misrule. As a result, there is a lot of public anger towards the outgoing government. The interim government is determined to prosecute these abuses.

The circular also said that it is noted with concern that when the government has called on the United Nations to investigate the truth and initiate the judicial process with a clear promise of justice, some overzealous and self-interested quarters are taking the law into their own hands and besieging the institution in the name of protest in various cases. , forced resignations, vandalism, arson, illegal searches, looting, extortion, tender-fixing, pressurizing the police to accept cases in droves, attacking the accused in court have tried to create instability. In this context, the government wants to assure everyone that a case does not mean random arrests. All these cases will be investigated properly and appropriate action will be taken.

According to the warning notice, the government is making it clear that appropriate legal action will be taken against these activities that disturb public safety. The government will identify all the miscreants and take immediate action against them and take legal action irrespective of party affiliation.

The notification also informs that if there is a complaint against someone, it should be reported to the senior officer and the office, in no way can any institution be surrounded or any kind of violent behavior. On behalf of the government, the prevailing laws will be duly followed in the investigation and taking of cases and measures will be taken to remove the harassing measures. In the notification, everyone has been sincerely called upon to cooperate with the government in maintaining law and order.

Several police officials said that among the weapons looted on and after August 5, which have not yet been deposited is a cause for concern. Recovering these weapons is seen as a big challenge by the law enforcement agencies. The joint forces will work with utmost importance to recover illegal weapons. Intelligence has already been gathered. The operation will continue based on the information received from the police station about who has the weapons. It is said that the operation will continue till the recovery of the looted weapons is completed.
