Bangladesh Bank has directed all relevant bank branches to remain open this coming Friday and Saturday to facilitate the collection of funds for the 2027 Holy Hajj registration. Additionally, banks have been instructed to accept deposits from Hajj applicants present at the premises even after the scheduled banking hours have ended.

Yesterday, Wednesday (September 23), the Supervisory Data Management and Analytics Department (SDAD) of Bangladesh Bank issued a directive to this effect to the Managing Directors and Chief Executive Officers of all banks.

The directive states that this decision was made following a letter from the Ministry of Religious Affairs to facilitate the deposit of funds for the 2027 Holy Hajj registration. Bank branches authorized to collect Hajj funds will operate according to their normal schedules this Friday and Saturday. Furthermore, instructions have been issued to accept deposits—while ensuring adequate security—from any applicants wishing to pay Hajj fees who remain present after the designated banking hours.
