“We desire peace, but mistaking it for weakness would be a grave error”—this was the stern warning issued to Pakistan by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Speaking at the NDTV Defence Summit 2026, he stated that India has no intention of seizing territory from any neighboring country, nor is its objective to instigate war. However, this does not mean India will compromise on its security.

As long as the neighboring country does not move away from the path of terrorism, India will not hesitate in the slightest to take any stringent measures necessary to corner terrorists. Rajnath was essentially pointing the finger at Pakistan. Recalling the brutal attack in Pahalgam in April 2025 that claimed 26 lives, he noted that India had previously delivered a fitting response by launching missile strikes to destroy terrorist hideouts.

Rajnath Singh further added that while India always seeks to resolve issues through dialogue, the door to such talks would be closed forever if anyone continues to fuel terrorism. India remains uncompromising when it comes to national interests and security.
