7 Killed, Including a Child, in Akua Bypass Road Accident

Seven people, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the Gandrapara area of ​​the Akua Bypass Road in Mymensingh city. Four members of the same family were among the deceased. The accident occurred around 1:30 PM on Friday.

Asaduzzaman Shakil, Additional Superintendent of Police (Mymensingh Sadar Circle), stated that the identities of four of the seven victims have been confirmed. They were residents of Dari Hamidpur village in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila and belonged to the same family.

The four identified victims are Rashida (70), wife of Maksud Ali; her son Mostafa Khandaker Hossain (50); daughter-in-law Marjina (25); and grandson Miyan (5). Efforts are underway to identify the remaining three victims.

According to police and local sources, a ‘Rajib Paribahan’ bus traveling from Jamalpur to Dhaka was passing along the Akua Bypass Road at noon. At that time, it collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction and heading towards Muktagacha. The impact left the auto-rickshaw completely mangled. Seven people, including the auto-rickshaw driver, died at the scene.

Mohammad Shibirul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, said that upon receiving the news, police and rescue teams arrived at the site and recovered the bodies. The bus and auto-rickshaw involved in the accident have been seized.
