Former IGP Shahidul is in jail after remand

The court ordered former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque to be sent to jail after being remanded in the murder case. Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Ali Haider gave this order on Wednesday.

Shahidul Haque was arrested on September 4 in the case of the murder of Abdul Wadud, a businessman of the capital’s New Market. On this day, the court allowed him to be interrogated on remand for seven days in this case.

Police produced Shahidul Haque in court today after the interrogation. He was requested to be sent to jail. Later the court ordered to send Shahidul Haque to jail.

On September 3, at around 12:30 PM, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media and public relations department said that Shahidul Haque was arrested from Sector 16, Uttara.

Shahidul Haque was appointed as IGP on December 30, 2014. He retired on 31 January 2018.
