Case against 27 people including Hasina for trying to kill the lawyer

A case has been filed against 27 people, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former IGP of Police Benazir Ahmed, for allegedly beating up and attempting to kill a lawyer named Rehena Parveen during the 2013 election campaign demanding a caretaker government.

On Wednesday (September 11), the victim lawyer Rehana Parveen filed this case as the plaintiff in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aurobia Khanam. The court accepted the statement of the plaintiff and ordered Shahbagh police station to accept it as evidence. The matter has been informed by the concerned court sources.

Among the other accused in the case are former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, former State Minister of Home Affairs Shamchul Haque Tuku, Amir Hossain Amu, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Hasanul Haque Inu, Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas, former IG Hasan. Mahmud Khandkar, former general secretary of Jubo Mahila League Apu Ukil, expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat, former general secretary of Chhatra League Badiuzzaman Sohag. Apart from mentioning the names, another 200 to 300 people have been made unknown accused.

In the statement of the case, the plaintiff pointed out that before the 10th National Assembly elections, on December 29, 2013, around 3:30 pm, more than three hundred lawyers were agitating in front of the Supreme Court demanding a caretaker government. At that time, 40-50 policemen from the field administration of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League attacked them. During this, the plaintiff lawyer Rehena Parveen was severely beaten. Later he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

In this incident, the accused were charged under section 149/323/307/324/326/379/506/114/14 of the Penal Code.
