Constable Showaibur Rahman, who led the movement to free the police force from political use and reform it after the fall of the Awami League government in a student uprising, has been arrested by the police. He has been accused of creating enmity between different classes and communities on social media.
Shahjahanpur police officer-in-charge (OC) said that Showaibur Rahman (32) and Naik Sajib Sarkar (27) have been arrested in a case under the Cyber Security Act. Khairul Islam said. The OC said on Monday that the accused Showaibur Rahman and Sajib Sarkar were spreading provocative statements on social media. For this, a case has been filed against them under Cyber Security Act at Shahjahanpur Police Station.
Meanwhile, a small message from the DMP said that by misusing social media, creating enmity and hatred between different classes and communities and destroying communal harmony and disrupting services to the public, a case has been filed under the Cyber Security Act at Shahjahanpur police station for tarnishing the image of the Bangladesh Police. Naik Sajeeb Sarkar and Constable Showaibur Rahman have been arrested in the case. Initially, it was known that constable Showaibur Rahman and some other policemen were involved in creating unrest in the police force at the instigation of subordinate officers of the previous government.
After the arrest, the two policemen were produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court in Dhaka on Monday. The police applied for a 10-day remand for questioning the two. It is said in the remand application that the accused Shoaibur Rahman and Sajeeb Sarkar have destroyed enmity and hatred and communal harmony between different classes and communities by using their Facebook IDs. Apart from this, the accused are posting inflammatory messages to disrupt and disrupt public services. It is important to remand the accused to find out who is the mastermind behind spreading communal harmony on social media.
On the other hand, a bail application was filed seeking cancellation of the remand application from the accused. It is said from the accused that they have been arrested for social disgrace.
After hearing both sides, the court granted a three-day remand to Showaibur Rahman and Sajib Sarkar.
