Bangladesh will not interfere in UN probe: Foreign Adviser

Dhaka //

Bangladesh will not interfere in the investigation of the UN fact-finding mission, said the foreign adviser. Touhid Hossain. He said, we want a completely impartial investigation. We will not interfere. They will go somewhere for investigation work, if security or accommodation is required there – we are willing to provide such logistical support. Told them this.

He said these things in response to a question about the investigation of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission during the press briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (September 17) afternoon.

In response to the question whether the United Nations fact-finding mission has sought any cooperation from the government, the foreign adviser said, they have not yet said anything about the cooperation. They think they can organize everything themselves. They will let us know if necessary.

In response to the question whether we officially know the status of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in India. Tauhid Hossain said, we do not know anything officially. All we know is that the Indian Foreign Minister said at first that she (Sheikh Hasina) had come, but she had to be allowed to come very soon. In response to the question, “What is the status of Sheikh Hasina in India, have we asked to know that?” he said that he has not been asked officially yet.

When asked about the process by which Sheikh Hasina will stay in India after the expiry of her passport, the foreign adviser said that everything does not just follow the law. The Government of India has given him asylum, he is staying there; We have to see it that way.

Earlier in the morning, Maldivian High Commissioner Sheunin Rashid and Bangladesh Mission Chief of International Organization of Migration (IOM) Abdusattar Isoev had separate meetings with the foreign advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
