BGB rally to stop border smuggling and criminal activities

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Sylhet Commander held a public awareness rally to stop all kinds of smuggling and criminal activities across the border. BGB held this public awareness rally with the participation of the people of the border region.

On Tuesday 28 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Sunamganj captain Lt. The rally was held under the chairmanship of Colonel AKM Zakaria Qadir at the premises of Dhanpur Eidgah under the control of Chinakandi BOP of Biswambharpur.

Colonel Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Sylhet Commander of the Public Awareness Rally, while addressing the people of the border towns as the chief guest, said that there is illegal infiltration across the Bangladesh-India border, illegal mining of minerals in various border rivers, mountain ridges or the surrounding areas on the international border line. Mining of sand-stone-limestone, illegal mining of coal from pits or hill quarries crossing the border line, no cattle crossing the zero line of the border, human trafficking including women and children and drug, ganja, yaba (sugar, onion, beedi, cosmetics) , spices, betel nuts, food items, raw-dried fish, poultry, vegetables, crockery, cattle etc) gave a directive speech in the gathering for public awareness against smuggling.

After the rally, the Sylhet Commander of (BGB) Colonel Mohammad Saiful Islam Chowdhury inaugurated the program of free medical care and distribution of free medicines among the members of the underprivileged families in the settlements of the border towns in the Eidgah premises.

Biswambharpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (EENO) Mofizur Rahman, Police Station OC Mohammad Abdur Razzak, BGB Subedar, Habildar, Naib Subedar and other members of BGB including Chinakandi, local public representatives of the border town, conscious people, representatives of various social institutions were present in the rally and medical campaign. Leaders of cultural organizations and media workers of various print and electronic media working in the district and upazila were present.
