The court ordered PBI to investigate the case against two former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and Shahidul Haque for killing BNP worker Abul Hossain (40) in crossfire in Chapainawabganj.
Judge Abu Taleb of Gomstapur Amli Court of Chief Judicial Court of Chapainawabganj gave this order on Wednesday (September 18) at noon. Julekha Begum, Abul Hossain’s wife, filed a case in Gomstapur Amli Court on this murder incident. His house is in Shibrampur village of Bangabari union of Gomstapur upazila.
Five accused have been named in the case. They are – Benazir Ahmed and Shahidul Haque, the then Deputy Inspector (SI) Mozammel Haque of Chapainawabganj camp of RAB-5, the then two sources Monirul Islam and Md. modest Besides, 15 to 20 unidentified people have been accused.
According to the case documents and court sources, RAB and police members took Abul Hossain off the bus publicly on September 5, 2018 because he was a BNP worker. The next evening four dead bodies with bullet wounds in the chest were returned to the family from the Gomstapur Upazila Health Complex.
The lawyer for the plaintiff, Nurul Islam Sentu, said that this murder created a sensational atmosphere at that time. The case will be investigated by the PBI and its real mystery will be revealed. We don’t want any mother to be empty, no child to lose a father. Therefore, we are satisfied with the order passed by the court today and we wish exemplary punishment to the accused. He also said that the court has fixed the date for the next hearing of the case on November 8. PBI has been directed to submit the investigation report within this period.
