One more person has died due to dengue in the country. With this, 42 people died of dengue in 3 weeks this month. 22 of them died in the hospitals under the South City Corporation of the capital. And seven people died in hospitals in the north.
This information was informed in the press release of the Department of Health on Saturday. It has been said that in the last 24 hours (from 8:00 am yesterday Friday to 8:00 am today) the death of one patient with dengue has been reported. Apart from this, 843 people were admitted to the hospital with this disease carried by the Aedes mosquito.
According to the circular, a maximum of 226 patients with dengue have been admitted to various hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation area in the last 24 hours. Then 193 in various hospitals of Chittagong Division (excluding City Corporation Area), 162 in various hospitals of Dhaka South City Corporation, 113 in various hospitals of Dhaka Division (excluding City Corporation Area), 71 in various hospitals of Barisal Division (excluding City Corporation Area), 71 in various hospitals of Khulna Division ( (excluding City Corporation area) 48, 21 in various hospitals of Rangpur Division (excluding City Corporation area) and 35 in various hospitals of Mymensingh Division (excluding City Corporation area).
So far this year, 23 thousand 108 people have been admitted to hospital with dengue. And this year, 125 people died due to the Aedes mosquito-borne disease. Most of them 72 dengue patients died in different hospitals of Dhaka South City Corporation. The answer is 15. Outside the two cities, 3 people died in Dhaka division, 17 in Chittagong and 11 in Barisal, 5 in Khulna, 1 each in Mymensingh and Chittagong. And 54.4 percent of those who died of dengue were women and 45.6 percent were men.
According to the notification of the Department of Health, 62.6 percent of the patients admitted to the hospital with dengue this year are men and 37.4 percent are women. At this time, 20 thousand 277 people have recovered from the hospital and returned home. And in the last 24 hours, 700 people have been discharged from the hospital.
According to the data of the Department of Health, dengue outbreaks in the country started in 2000. From 2000 to 2022, 2 lakh 44 thousand 246 people were affected by this disease. 853 people died during this time.
Last year saw the highest number of dengue infections and deaths in the history of Bangladesh. During this time 3 lakh 21 thousand 179 people were infected with dengue and admitted to the hospital. And 1 thousand 705 people died.
