The anti-discrimination student movement said that 1,423 people were killed and more than 22,000 people were injured in the July-August student movement.

Tarekul Islam, coordinator of the movement and member secretary of the central sub-committee on health, said this in a live on social media Facebook on Friday (September 20) night.

This initial list has been prepared according to the information available from various government and private sources. He said, we have managed to make a preliminary list of 1423 martyrs. However, there will be additions and subtractions. We have ongoing verification and validation work. We will be able to publish an accurate list. Apart from this, more than 22 thousand people were injured. Among them, 587 people were injured. 685 people lost partial or complete sight due to gunshots. 92 people were shot in both eyes, both eyes were damaged.

Tarekul said, the task of making the list of injured was quite challenging. The number of injured will also be updated. Working with injured people is very difficult. Because this number is huge. Meanwhile, when we collect data from hospitals, a lot of garbage data comes in. The names of those who were not injured in the movement came. Only the name of the injured is available, not even the mobile number and address. In some cases we have been able to recover their names and addresses through intelligence. After checking, I saw that some of them were not injured in the movement. He said, so far more than 600 injured people have been provided emergency assistance on our behalf.
As Sunnah Foundation 2 thousand, Sajeda Foundation took overall responsibility of 450 patients, provided financial assistance to 1 thousand 800 people. He also said that there is a delay in reaching many injured people due to lack of proper information at this time.

The member secretary said that treatment has already been made free. But this is not enough, many families are not able to survive. No money to eat. Whenever we receive such news, we are trying to send aid through various donor agencies. July Shaheed Foundation will deliver financial assistance to hospitalized patients, who have lost their limbs, eye sight, bullet injuries, by 30th September. This issue of financial assistance is very preliminary, not final. Because government and foundation are different.

The government is making a policy to help the injured, where it has been said to give 8 lakhs to each martyr’s family and 4 lakhs to the injured. The July Foundation will always be operational outside of the government. Assistance will be provided from there. Earlier, the preliminary report of the committee formed by the Ministry of Health to prepare the list of casualties said that at least 631 people were killed and more than 19 thousand 200 people were injured.
