PDB’s billions of outstanding bills are stuck in Habiganj!

Authorities are not taking action despite PDB’s illegal power disconnection in Habiganj and crores of unpaid bills stuck. Also, even though many cases are pending, due to lack of action, the electricity department is suffering huge losses. Still the authorities are not taking any action.

It is known from a reliable source of PDB that during the period of Awami League government, some leaders have withheld some bills. Many officers are also actively involved in it. As a result, the government is losing revenue of crores of rupees even though their pockets are heavy month by month.

On April 18, 2022, the PDB authorities started an operation to disconnect the illegal power supply and demand recovery of outstanding bills. Illegal electricity connection was disconnected by raiding the house of Md Atar Ali and his wife Rekha Begum, son of deceased Rahim Ullah of Tegharia village of Sadar upazila. Later, the authorities filed a case with a fine of 7,86,313 rupees including arrears. Which is CR Case No-557/22. But with the connivance of some PDB officials by the mentioned, the scandal started in the name of re-investigation. But even then it can be seen that the electricity connection in their house is still intact without settling the case. Even after many more such cases are pending, PDB is accused of reconnecting secretly without collecting any bill.

There is an allegation that during the Awami League government, PDB assistant engineer Monirul Islam Mukul was managed and these misdeeds were carried out. He is wasting time in the cases in the name of investigation, as a result of which the electricity department is losing crores and crores of rupees to the consumers.

When contacted Assistant Engineer Monirul Islam Mukul to inquire about this, he told Morningsun that action will be taken after seeing how many bills are detained and how many cases are pending.
