Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam said that there will be flawless security during the upcoming Durga Puja. The policemen will perform their duties with maximum vigilance in the security of the pujamandap. Three levels of security arrangements have been made for pre-Durga Puja, during Durga Puja and after Idol immersion and Durga Puja. In the meantime, the police have started the security activities focused on worship.
He said this in a law and order and security meeting on the occasion of Autumn Durga Puja at the Hall of Pride of Police Headquarters on Monday. On the occasion of Durga Puja, the monitoring cell will be operational at police headquarters and other police units. This time Durga Puja will be celebrated in 32 thousand 666 pavilions across the country.
RAB Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman, SB Chief Shah Alam, Additional IG Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq, Additional IG of Highway Police Shahabuddin Khan, Additional IG of Naval Police Moha presided over the IGP. Abdul Alim Mahmud, DMP Commissioner Mainul Hasan, Head of various police units in Dhaka, Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council President Nirmal Rosario and Acting General Secretary Monindra Kumar Nath, Bangladesh Puja Udjar Parishad President Vasudev Dhar and General Secretary Santosh Sharma, Mahanagar Sarbjanin Puja Committee president Jayant Kumar Dev and general secretary Dr. Tapas Chandra Sheel, Swami Kalpeshananda of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, representatives of various intelligence agencies were present. All Metropolitan Police Commissioners, Range DIGs and District Superintendents of Police participated in the meeting virtually.
The IGP said that the police are trying to ensure that no one can cause any untoward incident on the occasion of Durga Puja. Cyber monitoring of the police has been strengthened to prevent rumors on social media.
Requesting the leaders of the Pooja celebration council to contact the National Emergency Service 999 or the nearest police station in case of emergency, he said that criminals usually try to cause untoward incidents in the Pujamandap at midnight or on the last night. He urged the leaders of the puja celebration councils to keep CCTV-IP cameras active during the puja, ensure round-the-clock security by law enforcement personnel as well as volunteers at every mandap.
IGP Moinul Islam said, with the collective efforts of everyone in Bangladesh for communal harmony, the upcoming Durga Puja will be celebrated safely and smoothly in a festive and joyous atmosphere. During Durga Puja, police in uniform and plain clothes along with SWAT, Crisis Response Team, Quick Response Team, Crime Scene Van and Bomb Disposal Unit will be ready round the clock.
