Jaintapur’s Guabari is going on illegal stone extraction-stockpiling Hariloot!

Jaintapur (Sylhet) Representative //

Illegal stone quarrying is going on in Guabari Puran Masjid Pahar Paddesh area of Jaintapur Upazila of Sylhet. Due to this, the beauty of Guabari has become a threat to the environment surrounded by beauty. Some money-hungry influential people are continuing this crime by cutting hills (hills) in the night. Plain land is not spared.

According to locals, the work of stone extraction starts every night after two o’clock. Later, the stone was transported by small hydraulic mini trucks to various contractors in Jaintapur. This influential smuggling ring supplies stones worth Rs 4-5 lakh daily. Jaintapur upazila administration conducts occasional raids, but the stone quarrying thieves remain undetected.

Allegedly, this stone pelting gang has been formed under the shadow of the gardener working in the garden under the jurisdiction of SI Ashraful and Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Jaintapur Model Police Station. This thriving trade of stone theft has been going on for a long time. Several extortionist yellow journalists are also involved.

Several local residents, who did not want to be named, told reporters that the area around the Guabari Puran Mosque has now turned into a pit. There are only pits all around. They said that many people have turned from zero to hero by extracting stones illegally. At that time, they complained and said that no one from the local area has the courage to protest against this syndicate. If they protest, they will face conspiratorial attacks and torture. They also said that Guabari area is always deserted. They also claimed that there is no duty police in that area from the local administration. Many are afraid to come to that place in the dark of night. In addition, some dishonest police officers also get huge sums of money every night. SI Ashraful seized this opportunity. Even without stones, Ashraful extorted lakhs of rupees every night from the Indian smugglers.

Meanwhile, a related local source said that the Upazila Nirbahi Officer had given conditions to his gardener Mali Saiful before going to any operation in that area. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) failed to conduct a diligent campaign.

Meanwhile, it was revealed on Monday that a person has stored a large amount of illegal stolen stones in the residences of Abdur Rahman, Bagan Mali Saiful, Alamgir, Shaheen, Zakaria and Rimal. They put up a bamboo fence to prevent anyone from entering their house. A guardwall has also been placed. In contrast, the stones are covered by a large polython. To avoid the eyes of the administration, several more piles of stones have been stored on the hill (tila). This is how their daily stone quarrying activity is going on. The local community thinks that if the upazila administration is strict with the higher officials of the administration, it is possible to resist them. Otherwise the past traditions of Guabari area will disappear.

After several calls to Abdur Rahman’s mobile phone to inquire about this, no statement was received as his mobile phone was not received. Tried contacting others too but got no response.

Jaintapur Model Police Station SI Ashraful contacted his mobile phone to inquire about collection of subscription, but his mobile phone was not received.

In this regard, when talking to Jaintapur Model Police Station Officer-in-charge Abul Basar Mohammad Badruzzaman, he said that he has assumed responsibility on Monday, so he cannot say anything about these issues. But he told the reporter that he will look into it.

Jaintapur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Umme Salik Rumaiya said that raids have been conducted in the area before. It was very difficult to raid the area at night, but I continued the raid. In response to another question, he said, Saiful works as a gardener in the garden, how will he know where I am going to conduct the operation, this is a fabrication, but we will look into the matter.
