Kishoreganj Correspondent //
Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman said that there is no alternative to the elected government to develop and prosper a country. People’s development is possible only through people’s elected government. Because, if the people’s government is responsible to the people. Since the people’s right to government is established by voting. So the day the people of Bangladesh will have their right to vote, that day people will get their full freedom back.
Tarek Rahman said these things in the speech of the chief guest in an event at the old stadium of Kishoreganj district city on Monday afternoon. District BNP organized this event to support the families of 17 people who were killed and 16 people who were injured in the mass uprising of 2024.
Tariq Rahman said in his speech, ‘Today we can speak in a free environment, without fear. For 17 long years, many tortures have to be endured for this environment. Last July-August, thousands of people were killed and many people were injured. In the last 17 years only 60 lakh leaders and workers of BNP have been victims of torture. Many died. There is only one reason why so many people are sacrificing themselves, they want to get back their political rights. Just like the freedom fighters sacrificed their lives for the country in 1971, many people sacrificed their lives in the 24 movement. However, it should be remembered that even though the dictatorship has fallen in Bangladesh, the supporters of the dictatorship still remain. They are always scheming. Therefore, the present government should not do anything while working, so that the dictators can raise their heads again.
Acting Chairman of BNP also said, ‘Today all the people of Bangladesh are expecting that their favorite party BNP will form the government with the support of the people. We have also struggled for that for 17 years. So I would say to the leaders and workers of BNP, all the dangers have not gone away just because the dictatorship has fallen from this country. We all have to be vigilant about it and unitedly counter all conspiracies. Not only political freedom, but economic freedom of the people of Bangladesh. If not, people will not succeed.
Regarding the development plan of Kishoreganj district, Tarek Rahman said, ‘Kishorganj district is one of the most promising districts in Bangladesh. From which 16 percent of the country’s total rice production comes. If proper planning and farmers are supported, more production can be increased. Apart from that, the Haor area of this district is famous for freshwater fish. With proper planning, foreign income is possible by exporting this fish to foreign countries like garment industry. Even the paneer of Haor-dominated Ashtagram upazila has already gained a lot of fame in the country and abroad. We can earn foreign exchange by introducing the famous Panir of this Ashtagram to the world.
Tariq Rahman also said, ‘One of my wishes is to make a family card for every family in every area including the remote rural areas of Bangladesh. This card will be in the name of the female members of the family, our mothers and housewives, so that every family in the country gets some financial support through this card every month.
Tariq Rahman said that everyone should be united regardless of the party, and said, “Everyone should be united for the sake of the country.” That is why we have said on behalf of BNP in 31 points, we will form the government together in the future with everyone. The parties who were in agitation and struggle with us in the past days will form the government and work to take the country forward. At the end of the speech, he said, I have no address outside Bangladesh. This Bangladesh is my first and last address.
Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, said on the occasion, “On the day of the fall of the government on August 5, Tarek Rahman ordered the leaders and workers of BNP to remain calm, so no major incident took place in the country.” We only wanted Sheikh Hasina’s resignation. But he didn’t listen. Due to the mass coup of 24, now he not only has to resign, he has to leave the country. He further said, “Proper democracy will not return without elections. Therefore, we will call on this government to organize elections by creating a fair election environment with the cooperation of all.
Kishoreganj district BNP president Shariful Alam also spoke at the event, Khaleda Zia’s political advisor. Fazlur Rahman, Central Committee Organizing Secretary Syed Emran Saleh, Wares Ali etc.
