During the General Session of the United Nations, the chief advisor of Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid a courtesy call on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In a brief meeting on Tuesday (September 24), the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen Bangladesh-Canada relations, expand civil liberties, institutional reforms and support Bangladesh’s youth.
Professor Yunus presented an art book called ‘The Art of Triumph’ to the Prime Minister of Canada. Where in Bangladesh, during and after the revolution, bornil graffiti painted by students and youths took place.
Prime Minister Trudeau praised Professor Yunus’ leadership and assured cooperation in institutional reforms in Bangladesh.
How the previous regime led by Sheikh Hasina destroyed the country’s institutions in the meeting. Yunus brought it up. He appreciated Canada’s friendship towards Bangladesh and the Canadian government’s support to the interim government.
The Chief Adviser requested the Prime Minister of Canada to issue Auro visas for Bangladeshi students. On this day, he started the program of the United Nations General Session by attending a reception organized by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Dr. Yunus met several world leaders at the reception. He also attended the opening session of the United Nations General Assembly. Later met with US President Joe Biden in a private meeting.
