Bangladesh Interim Government Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus held a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session as scheduled. At this time, US President Biden assured to stand by the Bangladesh government with any help. It is considered a rare opportunity for Bangladesh and a major step to take bilateral relations with the US to new heights.
The heads of government of the two countries met in a meeting at the United Nations headquarters on Tuesday (24 September) at 11 am local time in New York. Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam confirmed the matter.
He said, such a meeting with the head of government of Bangladesh on the sidelines of the UN General Council session is a rare event. The meeting will elevate Bangladesh’s relations with the US to new heights. This is good news for us.
Shafiqul Alam said that many other important issues including economic cooperation, transition to democratic path and reform measures taken by the interim government were discussed in the meeting. The meeting was very fruitful.
He said that the United States is cooperating with Bangladesh at the moment when Bangladesh is on the way to transition to democracy and they have extended their hand of cooperation in the reconstruction of democratic Bangladesh and the formation of economically prosperous new Bangladesh.
At the invitation of United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, the chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh. Muhammad Yunus attended the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The chief adviser is scheduled to meet several world leaders and heads of international organizations, including US President Joe Biden.
