All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has announced his retirement from Test and T20 cricket. He made this announcement at a press conference in Kanpur, India on Thursday (September 26).
The 37-year-old star cricketer made this announcement a day before the second Test against India.
Talking about retirement, Shakib said, “I think I have played my last match in T20.”
Shakib said that the series against South Africa at home in October will be the last series of his Test career.
Before leaving for the ODI World Cup in India in November last year, Shakib had said that he wanted to end his career very soon. This announcement came before the Kanpur Test.
Shakib made his T20 debut in 2006 against Zimbabwe at the Sheikh Abu Nasser Stadium in Khulna. Shakib witnessed the victory of Bangladesh with 26 runs with the bat and 1 wicket with the ball. He was in the first T20 match in the history of the country. Then represented in nine consecutive World Cups.
