Gazipur Correspondent //

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, ‘Reasonable time does not mean too much time. The sooner elections are held, the better off the country will be.
He said that the power should be transferred to the people through the elections by carrying out urgent reforms. If necessary to establish democracy, I will again protest on the streets.

He said these things at Kapasia Government Pilot High School ground in Gazipur at the memorial meeting of late BNP Standing Committee member Brigadier General (retd) Hannan Shahra this Friday afternoon (September 27).

Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘No kind of talisman will be tolerated. All the cases should be withdrawn and Tariq Rahman should be given an opportunity to return to the country immediately. If the cases filed against BNP activists are not withdrawn, there will never be a neutral situation.

BNP Secretary General said, “Even if Hasina ran away, the crisis is not over.” People believe that democracy should be established through free elections. He urged to vote as soon as possible by creating an environment suitable for elections. He said, ‘Awami League is still making various conspiracies. He wants to destabilize the country by plotting. Awami League can create various unstable situations around Durga Puja. Everyone should be aware of this. Hindu brothers are citizens of this country. I assure, any untoward incident will be dealt with unitedly.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “After defeating the Awami League government in the students’ uprising, they got a chance to catch their breath. This opportunity was not created in a day. They have destroyed all democratic institutions. To retain power, they axed the administration, judiciary, economic institutions. Sheikh Hasina’s government thought it would stay in power for the rest of its life. They had a plan to build a mountain of wealth by holding on to power by tyrant-oppression.
He said, “Those who once sent Begum Khaleda Zia to jail in a false case are now going to jail for corruption.”

Gazipur district BNP president Fazlul Haque Milon also spoke at the memorial meeting, Hannan Shah’s younger son and district BNP general secretary Shah Riazul Hannan, BNP central leader Humayun Kabir Khan, Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu, former mayor Mojibur Rahman, Dr. Mazharul Alam, Omar Farooq Shafin etc.
