Four people died due to lightning in separate incidents in Sunamganj district. This incident happened on Sunday (September 29) morning in Haor area. All of them belonged to the fishermen community.
It is known that like other days, they go fishing in Haor area on Sunday morning. They died due to lightning. Among them, one died in Chatak Upazila, two in Doarabazar and one in Jamalganj.
The deceased are Sundar Ali (48), son of Khurshed Ali of Mallikpur village of Chatak upazila. He was killed by lightning around 8:30 am when he went fishing at Boa Bill Haore. Two more people died while fishing in Doarabazar upazila at around 7 am. They are Jalal Mia (30), the younger son of Chan Mia of Tinhali village in Pandergaon Union of Upazila and Nurul Haque of Noa Gaoniya village of the same village. Jasim Uddin. Meanwhile, another person named Sharif Mia (30) was killed by lightning in Jamalganj upazila. He is the son of Abdul Latif of Kalaguja village of Sadar Union of Upazila. On Sunday morning, he died due to lightning when he went fishing in Kalaguja Naya Haor of that area.
Sunamganj District Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zakir Hossain has confirmed this.
