Rain continues to fall across the country. There is lightning somewhere along with it. This condition with thunder may remain till July 7. That means it will rain for six more days. Along with that there may be heavy rain somewhere.

Meteorological Department official Kazi Zebunnesa told the media on Monday afternoon that the current rainfall is likely to continue till July 7 across the country. Thunderstorms may also occur. Even after July 7, rainfall may continue in some areas of the country including Chittagong.

According to the information provided by the Meteorological Department, 37 mm of rain was recorded in Dhaka on Monday from 12-3 pm. About 102 mm of rain was recorded in Feni from 6 am to 12 noon today. Apart from this, some districts including Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Chandpur also received a lot of rain. There is a risk of flooding in Sylhet region due to continuous rain.

Meanwhile, the forecast for the next 72 hours from 9:00 am on Monday has said that Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain with gusty winds temporarily. Also, there may be moderate to heavy rainfall in some parts of the country. During this time, day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country.

In the weather forecast for the next five days, the Meteorological Department said that the trend of rain with thunder or rain may continue during this time.

The Meteorological Department also said that the low pressure over West Bengal and adjoining areas has coincided with the monsoon axis. The monsoon axis extends through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and central Bangladesh to Assam. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay of Bengal.

Earlier on Sunday, the Meteorological Department issued a warning of landslides in the hilly areas of Chittagong and Sylhet regions due to heavy rains.
