Another youth injured in the anti-discrimination student movement died while undergoing treatment in Dhaka. His name is Karimul Islam (20). He is the son of Shahab Uddin of Paschim Ruhitanshi village of Lakhai upazila. Karimul was a member of the Islami Chhatra movement. He died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Monday (September 30).
Confirming the matter, Zillur Rahman, the deceased’s grandfather, told The Daily Morning Sun that Karimul Islam used to live in Dhaka. There he started a new business. He was a member of the Islamic Students Movement. He has played an active role in the movement since its inception. On August 5, Karimul was shot in the chest, face and hand in front of Jatrabari police station. Later he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after his condition worsened over the past few days. He died on Monday morning. After the post-mortem, the body is expected to be brought to Ruhitanshi village of Lakhai upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lakhai Police Station. Bande Ali said, after the autopsy, the body will be brought home on Tuesday morning.
