The wife has been accused of killing her husband Arun Miya (70) due to a family dispute in Bancharampur of Brahmanbaria. After the murder, the body is dismembered rather than cut up for disposal. Later, pieces of the body were wrapped in polythene with bricks and hidden in the septic tank of the house next door.

The incident took place in Fardabad village of Fardabad union of the upazila. Deceased Arun Mia is the son of deceased Suraj Bepari of the same village.

Meanwhile, after the body was lost, the wife announced that her husband had disappeared. Arun Mia was missing since Friday afternoon. Four days after receiving the news, the police recovered the body’s dismembered body around 10 o’clock on Tuesday night. In this incident, the wife of the deceased, Momena Begum, his son Russell and daughter Lucky Akhtar have been arrested by the police.

According to police and local sources, Arun Mia of Madhyapara of Fardabad village of Upazila Fardabad Union married Taru Mia’s daughter Momena Begum in the same village after the death of his first wife about 35 years ago. After the marriage, marital discord continued. Arun Mia has a son named Lutfur Rahman Rubel from his first wife. His second wife had two sons and a daughter. One of them died while working in Dubai.

Arun Mia’s son Lutfar Rahman was living with Rubel in Gazipur since 2017. A few months ago, the locals settled with the second wife through arbitration. Since then, Arun Mia mostly stayed in the village house. Arun Mia went missing since last Friday afternoon. His son Lutfar Rahman Rubel filed a missing diary at Bancharampur Model Police Station on Monday.

Around 6:30 pm on Tuesday, local residents suspected that the stench was coming out of the septic tank of Monir Hussain, a Saudi expatriate living next door to Arun Mia. Looking inside the tank with torch light, they found some objects wrapped in polythene.

After reporting the matter to the police station, the police came and recovered 9 polythene packets wrapped with bricks around 10 pm. When he opened them, his son identified the father’s body. Momena Begum, wife of the deceased, initially confessed to the police about the murder.

He said that Arun Mia fell down on the ground when he was hit on the head with a knife during a dispute last Friday afternoon. Later, the body itself was cut into nine pieces, wrapped in polythene, wrapped in bricks and dumped in Monir’s septic tank next door.

Bancharampur Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sujan Kumar Pal said that Arun Mia’s second wife Momena Begum, his son Russell and daughter Lucky have been arrested and brought to the police station.
