Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman left Dhaka for London on September 11, 2008 along with his family members. After the fall of the Awami League government, Tariq Rahman is proving his leadership ability by conducting various activities to support the government and party activities. This leader who has been leading the long movement and struggle has been quietly doing some other things secretly. Which never came up. He himself does not want to bring these works to public.
Many of the BNP local leaders and activists do not know that Tariq Rahman is directly conducting these activities. Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the convener of the BNP family, said that Tariq Rahman, acting chairman of BNP, has been doing a lot of humanitarian work outside of political activities. He doesn’t want this to be public. Secretly, silently he conducts these activities. Even those who are getting help or support do not know that Tariq Rahman is doing it. They think BNP or activists are helping him. These actions of the acting chairman of the party encourage us to stand by the people.
Sources close to Tariq Rahman say that he is doing these things for self-satisfaction. Many helpless families have the entire responsibility on the shoulders of Tariq Rahman. Madrasas, hospitals were run under his supervision. He is bearing the cost of these on his own initiative. Along with BNP, these activities are being conducted through Ziaur Rahman Foundation and we are BNP family. At first, Tariq Rahman took charge of 25 families who were elderly and orphaned. Gradually this number exceeded 1300.
A madrasa for orphans is being run at Lathiganj’s Three Heads Junction in Gabtali Police Station of Bogra. Almost all the students studying in this madrasa have no or partial sight. The headmaster of this madrasa is also blind. This madrasa was built on his initiative. Around 2011, Tariq Rahman came to know the information about this madrasa. He took charge of the management of the madrasa after investigating everything. He has been running that madrasa since then.
Tariq Rahman has taken charge of 5 more orphanages across the country like this orphanage in Bogra.
He is giving monthly allowance to 144 families across the country. From 1.5 thousand taka to 7.5 thousand taka money is given to these families on his behalf. He started giving this allowance from 2014. Apart from this, Tariq Rahman organized the marriage of three of the families of the missing and murdered persons on his own initiative. These three weddings are organized in Feni, Bogra and Satkhira.
Helpless families have built houses on their own initiative in different areas. 3 lakhs have been given to them for the construction of the house. Tariq Rahman arranges the money and local BNP or organization leaders implement it.
