Dhaka //
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Moinul Islam said that action has been started against those who have not yet joined the police force. He said this while replying to a question from reporters after inspecting the security arrangements for Autumn Durga Puja at Dhakeshwari temple in the capital on Monday (October 7) afternoon.
The IGP said, “We face questions about absconding police officers everywhere.” 17 of the members whose involvement was found to be accused in various cases have been arrested. Those who did not attend the workplace may have not attended due to litigation or other reasons.
He said that the number of 187 absentees among the 200,000 police force is low. It can appear on average at any time. Departmental action has been initiated against those who did not join the work. They have been notified. If they do not come to our situation clear, there is no opportunity to keep them in the job.
The recent inactivity of policemen in front of the Audit Bhawan and the movement demanding 35 years minimum age for government service in front of the Chief Advisor’s residence showed a soft attitude of the policemen. In this situation, how much security do you think the Puja Mandap across the country can provide?
In response to such questions, the IGP said that 44 members of the police were martyred in the student-public movement. The lower ranks within the force had a say. In view of which a similar situation was created in Rajarbagh as well. The operation to bring back the lost morale from that place is going on. Meanwhile, all members of the police are working There were some old members who had retained their previous attitudes, so I removed them and recruited new personnel.
It should be noted that several top officials of the police played a controversial role in the anti-discrimination student movement. The police headquarters informed that 187 policemen are yet to join the work.
