A man named Tajul Islam (45) was killed in a clash between two parties over the release of cows and goats at Bahubale cemetery in Habiganj. At least 15 others were injured in this incident. They were rescued and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.
The incident took place at Daulatpur village of Vadeshwar union of Moup district at around 11:30 am on Wednesday. The deceased Tajul Islam is the son of deceased Sirajul Islam of that village. On receiving the information, the police visited the spot.
According to local sources, in order to protect the sanctity of the cemetery of Daulatpur village, it was decided through the Murubbians of the village that cows and goats should not be allowed to roam on the grave site. The cemetery is also surrounded by a boundary. Still, the influential people of the village, Sonahar Ali, Masud Mia and Maruf Mia, disobeyed the decision of the village and went to spread cattle and goats in the morning. Seeing this matter, Tajul Islam blocked it. At one point there was an argument between them. At that time, the opponents got excited and hit Tajul with a stick, injuring him seriously. When the matter came to light between the people on both sides, a clash broke out. At least 15 people including Tarek Miah, Safar Ali, Aneesh Miah and Matin Miah were injured.
Meanwhile, when Tajul Islam was taken to Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
In this regard, Bahubal Model Police Station (OC) Md. Zahidur Rahman told The Daily Morning Sun that the body of the deceased was recovered and sent to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Police operation is on to nab the accused.
