The government has formed an ‘Advisory Council Committee’ consisting of three advisers of the interim government to investigate allegations of corruption in the appointment of Deputy Commissioners (DCs). This decision was announced in a notification of the Cabinet Department on Wednesday.
However, it was informed by the government earlier that the government has decided to form a high-level committee to look into the matter.
The other two members of this Advisory Council Committee convened by Law Adviser Professor Asif Nazrul are Interior Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Information and Broadcasting Adviser. Nahid Islam.

It is alleged that the issue of bribery came up in a WhatsApp conversation between Mokhles ur Rahman and a joint secretary of the same ministry. Apart from this, it is also discussed on social media.
According to the scope of work of the Advisory Council, in view of the news published on October 3 in various dailies and social media, including Daily Kalbela, regarding corruption related to DC appointment, the Advisory Council Committee will investigate the allegations and submit a report within 10 working days. This committee can add more members if necessary. The Cabinet Division will provide secretarial support to the Committee.
