Amid tensions with Iran, US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on the phone. At the same time, Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant vowed a “deadly, precise and shocking” attack on Iran.
Last Wednesday, Biden and Netanyahu spoke for 30 minutes. This is the first time the two leaders have spoken to the media since last August.
The phone call between the two leaders comes at a time when Israel’s conflict with Iran and the Iran-backed Hezbollah group has turned deadly. There is no sign of a ceasefire with the Palestinian resistance group Hamas.
White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre told reporters that the conversation between Biden and Netanyahu was “candid and very productive.” However, he admitted that there were differences of opinion between the two leaders and they expressed their opinions in their own way.
Iran launched a missile attack on Israel last week. There is concern in the Middle East about possible attacks by Israel in response to that attack. Iran attacked Lebanon in response to Israel’s military provocation. However, in the end, no one was killed in Israel in the attack by Iran.
Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s office released a video statement following the phone call between Biden and Netanyahu. Defense Minister commented that Iran’s October 1 attack failed.
In that video, Gallant said, ‘Anyone who attacks us will be hit back and will have to suffer the consequences. Our attack will be fierce, precise and above all shocking. They will not even understand what happened and how it happened. They will see the results.
Netanyahu has also vowed that arch-enemy Iran will face consequences for the missile attack. Tehran, on the other hand, said that any kind of counterattack would cause massive destruction to the opponent. This has raised fears of a large-scale war in the oil-producing region, which could also draw the United States into the conflict.
Biden failed in trying to broker a ceasefire in Gaza. Biden’s relationship with Netanyahu has been strained over the Gaza war and conflict with Hezbollah. Netanyahu says military operations will continue until Israel is safe.
Attack on shelter in Gaza kills 28
Al-Jazeera reports that 28 people were killed yesterday in an Israeli attack on a school in Gaza’s Deir al-Balah area. 54 people were injured. The school was being used as a shelter. People who lost their homes in the Israeli attack took refuge there.
Eyewitnesses said that the violence of the attack left the bodies of children and women shattered. It also makes it difficult to identify many people. If relatives can identify the deceased by clothing or other marks, it may be possible to identify them.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health of Gaza said yesterday that 55 more people were killed in the Israeli attack in Gaza in 24 hours. 166 people were injured. With this, 42 thousand 65 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli attack on Gaza since October 7 last year. 97 thousand 886 people were injured.
In addition, the Israeli army claimed that two Hezbollah commanders were killed in an air strike in southern Lebanon yesterday. On the other hand, at least 14 people were killed in Israeli attacks in different areas of Lebanon the previous day. Five health workers were among the dead.
