Upazila Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Faizul Wasima Nahat and Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahinur Alam visited the Puja Mandap with the main accused and Awami League leader in Jamalpur’s Madarganj sabotage case.

Several pictures of the Pujamandap visit were posted by a Facebook ID named UNO Motherganj Jamalpur. As the pictures spread on social media, various discussions and criticisms have started on the matter. On Saturday (October 12), UNO removed the pictures from UNO Motherganj Jamalpur Facebook ID.

It can be seen in the picture that on October 10, the accused in the sabotage case, Sidhuli Union Parishad Chairman and Union Awami League President Mahbub Alam Miron, UNO visited some pujamandap including Adarvita and Sidhuli Union’s Pallabari Temple. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sayeda Khanam Liza, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motherganj Model Police Station Shahinur Alam, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Ibrahim Khalil, DGM Rural Electricity Obaidul Haque Masum, Upazila LGED Engineer Golam Kibria Tamal, Upazila Rural Development Officer Ruhul Amin, Social Services Officer Toufiqul Islam Khalek, Upazila Information Officer Deepa Khatun along with Pooja Celebration Committee and officials of various departments of Upazila were present.

The photo of the inspection was posted last Thursday (October 10) at 8:40 PM from the Facebook ID named UNO Motherganj Jamalpur. As the pictures spread on social media, there was a lot of excitement about the matter.

According to the case and local sources, Mizanur Rahman Ratan, the joint convener of Motherganj Upazila BNP and president of Sidhuli Union BNP, filed a sabotage case at Motherganj Model Police Station on September 2 of this year. Sidhuli Union Parishad Chairman and Union Awami League President Mahbub Alam Miron was named as the main accused in the case and 53 people were named and 30/40 others were named as accused.

Joint convenor of upazila BNP and president of Sidhuli Union BNP Mizanur Rahman Ratan, who is the plaintiff in the sabotage case, said that Mr. UNO already knows the chairman, he has taken him in his car and visited various pavilions. He demanded the quick arrest of the accused in the case.

Mahbub Alam Miron, Chairman of Sidhuli Union Parishad and President of Union Awami League, said, “I went to Pujamandap. I heard that there was a case against me earlier. I don’t have any problem, so I move.’

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motherganj Thana Police Shahinur Alam said, ‘BCS cadres and non-cadres of the upazila went to visit the puja mandap together with UNO. He is the chairman. And I don’t know the accused in the sabotage case. I am newly joined police station. I don’t know him.’

Madarganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Faizul Wasima Nahat said, “On behalf of the upazila administration, I went to visit the puja mandap, the chairman went there as a public representative. I did not know that he was accused in the case. Heard through journalists, so the pictures have been removed from Facebook.

Hasina Begum, Deputy Commissioner of Jamalpur said, “I have heard the matter.” However, action will be taken after inquiry.
