Gowainghat (Sylhet) Representative //
(BSF) abducted a Bangladeshi citizen from Pantumai border area of Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet district.
He was picked up from the Indian Interior area of Pillar No. 1268 of the Pantumai border around 12:30 pm on Tuesday (October 15). Hochan Ahmad (41) is the son of Abdul Haque of West Pantumai village of the upazila.
Locals said that at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, a group of 7/8 people including hochans from across the border entered India to smuggle Indian sugar. The BSF personnel realized their presence and called them. While the others managed to escape, Hoshan Ahmad was arrested and taken away.
Hochen Ahmad’s brother Farooq Ahmad said, some people including my brother went to Pantumai border on Tuesday afternoon. At that time, when BSF chased, the others escaped, but the BSF arrested the brother. Pantumai contacted the BGB camp and asked them to go to the police station and bring GD. I went to Gowainghat police station at 8 pm on Tuesday and made a GD in this regard.
Gowainghat Police Station (OC) Sarkar Tofail Ahmed confirmed the matter and said that a Bangladeshi named Hochan Ahmed was detained by BSF at Pantumai border. His brother and relatives came to the police station and informed. Applied for GD in this regard. The application has been considered.
