The police have solved the mystery of the murder of the TomTom driver who was rescued from the Srimangal tea garden in Moulvibazar. Within 24 hours of this incident, the police of Srimangal police station managed to arrest a murderer named Rubel Ahmad Sagar alias Jasim (30).
The arrested Jasim is the son of Siddikur Rahman of Titpur village of Ashidron Union of Upazila.
On Wednesday (October 16), the officer in charge of Srimangal police station. Under the leadership of Aminul Islam and the investigating officer of the case SI Taukir Ahmed identified and arrested the accused Rubel Ahmed Sagar alias Jasim through information technology. Later Jasim was brought to the police station for questioning and admitted to the police that he was involved in the incident. Later, Sumana Akhter, wife of the deceased TomTom driver Abul Khair, filed a complaint at Srimangal police station as the plaintiff. Jasim, who was arrested, was extensively interrogated by the police to unravel the mystery of the incident. At one point he told the police that he was with 3/4 others at the time of the incident. They took Abul Khair’s tomtom to a secluded spot in the Kalighat tea garden on October 14 at around 9 pm to rob it. When Abul Khair tries to snatch the tomtom from him by force, he stops him. Meanwhile, Abul Khair recognized the robbers and killed him by cutting him with a sharp weapon (knife). Later they ran away with TomTom.
After Jasim’s confession, the police identified the blood-stained short-pants worn at the time of the incident from Jasim’s house at around 4 pm on Wednesday and seized them as evidence.
It is to be noted that the police recovered the body of TomTom driver Abul Khair from Srimangal Kalighat tea garden on Tuesday, October 15. After the recovery of Abul Khair’s body, the police started working under the leadership of Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Srimangal police station, under the direction of District Superintendent of Police AKM Jahangir Hossain. Within 24 hours of this incident Srimangal police station was able to arrest the accused along with uncovering the mystery of the TomTom driver’s death.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Aminul Islam told The Daily Morningsun that the arrested accused has been sent to Moulvibazar district learned court on Wednesday morning. Police are working to nab other accused involved in the incident.
