The International Criminal Tribunal has issued an arrest warrant against Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on charges of genocide. He has been ordered to appear before the tribunal by November 18.

On Thursday (October 17), the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Md. A bench headed by Ghulam Mortuza passed the order. And the chief prosecutor of the tribunal, Advocate Mohammad Tajul Islam, applied.

Earlier, at a minute after 11 am, the proceedings of the International Criminal Tribunal for the genocide of the student-crowd movement in July-August officially began. Tribunal Chairman Justice Md. Trial proceedings started under the leadership of Golam Mortuza Majumdar. The members of the tribunal are – Justice Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.

At this time, the chief prosecutor presented the description of all the murders, massacres, extrajudicial killings, pillkhana killings during the dictatorial regime of Sheikh Hasina in the International Criminal Tribunal. Tajul Islam Also, the prosecution team of the tribunal wants an arrest warrant against 50 people including Sheikh Hasina.

It should be noted that the Awami League government carried out indiscriminate killings to prevent the movement of students. About one and a half thousand people lost their lives in this movement. Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule came to an end on August 5 amid student-public agitation. Then the Nobel Peace Prize winner. The interim government led by Muhammad Yunus decided to prosecute the July-August massacre when it took charge of the country.
