The final parade of Apprentice Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) held at the Bangladesh Police Academy on Sunday has been postponed.

The final parade of these ASPs inducted into the 40th BCS (Police) cadre was scheduled to take place on Sunday (October 20) at the Parade Ground of Sarada Police Academy in Rajshahi at 10 am.

Interim Government Home Affairs Adviser Lt. General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury was supposed to take the salute and inspect the parade. Invitations were given to law enforcement and senior government officials, dignitaries and media persons.

It was reported on Saturday night that the closing parade has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons.

Faisal Hasan, senior public relations officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said that no invitation letter was issued by the Ministry for the parade. Invitations are distributed locally. Therefore, the fact that the parade will not take place has been informed to everyone locally at night.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury went to Sarada Police Academy last night. Apart from this, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Moinul Islam, Director General of RAB AKM Shahidur Rahman along with senior officials of law enforcement and government were also staying at Sarada Police Academy at night.

Generally recruited through BCS, police cadre officers undergo one year of basic training at Sardar Police Academy. After that, their training was completed with the final parade and after that they joined the field work.

The recruitment process of 40th BCS (Police) cadre was completed during the tenure of Awami League government. Salahuddin Ammar, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement of Rajshahi University, complained yesterday on the social media Facebook that at least 62 Chhatra League leaders have been appointed.
