The police has applied to remand former Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Imran Ahmed for 10 days in the case of human trafficking and embezzlement of Tk 24,000 crore.
On Monday (October 21), the investigating officer of the case applied for remand to SI Nazmul Hasan of Paltan police station. The matter will be heard in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka in his presence. Earlier on the night of October 20, DB arrested him from Banani in the capital.

Other defendants in the case are – Secretary Dr. Ahmed Muniruch Salehin, former Member of Parliament and Managing Director of M International Limited. General Masud Uddin Chowdhury (Retd.), Proprietor of Ahmed International and former MP Benazir Ahmed and Proprietor of Catharsis International. 103 people including Ruhul Amin Swapan were made accused.
In the statement of the case, the plaintiff Altab Khan alleged that although there are more than two thousand recruiting agents in the export of manpower, the defendants in the case have committed heinous crimes against the principles of the constitution by creating discrimination among the mafia syndicate businessmen.
Mala accused secretary Dr. Ahmed Muniruch Salehin, while in government service, used his son as a member of the syndicate under his ministry. And former Expatriate Welfare Minister Imran Ahmed helped the circle by allowing his family member i.e. his wife’s elder brother’s son to launch an app called Pravasi illegally.
The plaintiff also mentions that, with the opportunity of my simplicity, 841 people collected 12 crore 56 lakh 1000 taka from me as an additional contribution of one and a half lakh each for the purpose of human trafficking by intimidation and coercion. Besides, they collectively embezzled about 24 thousand crore rupees from other businessmen.
