Miscreants shot and killed three members of the same family after entering the Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place at Rohingya Camp 20X in Ukhia around 5 am on Monday (October 21), said Md Arif Hossain, OC of Ukhia police station.
The deceased are Ahmad Hossain (65), son Syedul Amin (28) and daughter Asma Begum (15) residing in Camp-17 (X) Block: 104 of Rohingya camp in Ukhia.
Quoting locals, the OC said, “Unknown 15-20 miscreants entered Camp-20 (X), Block-S/4, B/6 block adjacent to Lal Pahar in Ukhia and shot three people in the same family, including men and women. In this, three people including father, son and daughter died due to bullet wounds in the head, chest and neck. The father and son died on the spot but daughter Asma was taken to the camp hospital with bullet injuries. Asma also died on the way to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital from there. The victims came from Camp-17 and lived temporarily in Camp-20 by making sheds.
According to the camp sources, it is said that the deceased Rohingya Syedul Amin Arsa was associated with the terrorist activities for a long time. Because of this, unknown terrorists attacked him brutally and killed him along with his parents. After the attack, unidentified terrorists escaped through S/4, B/7 block of Lal Pahar. OC Arif Hossain said, after this incident, the body was recovered with the help of APBN police and sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Legal action is in process.’
There were no reports of murders in the camp for quite some time. But suddenly there is fear in the murder of mother-son-daughter in the same family. The people of the community are unable to figure out why three members of the same family were killed. It is said that the police are trying to unravel the mystery of the incident.
