250 trainee cadet SIs of Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, Rajshahi have been dismissed on charges of indiscipline. However, it was not due to any political reason said Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
He made these comments during a briefing with journalists at the secretariat on Tuesday (22 October).
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that there is no political reason behind the exemption of SI. In the past, more than this amount has been exempted. Sarada Police Academy will be able to tell the matter of indiscipline. There can be many types of discipline. It doesn’t matter. The new circular has been given and the recruitment will be done soon.
The Home Affairs Adviser said that the political identity of the instigators in any movement should be investigated. Care must be taken to ensure that top terrorists who are out on bail do not indulge in further crimes. The recovery of illegal weapons was discussed. A significant amount of weapons were recovered.
At that time, the Home Affairs Adviser suggested holding the meeting in Suhrawardy Udyan instead of Shahbagh.
Earlier, 250 trainees out of 823 cadet SIs were dismissed from the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarada, Rajshahi, on charges of indiscipline in training.
The order was given in a letter signed by Superintendent of Police (Admin & Logistics) Tariq Bin Rashid on behalf of the principal of the academy on Monday (October 21). On Monday, the local police stations were called and this letter was handed over to them.
Bangladesh Police Academy Principal Masudur Rahman Bhuia confirmed this on Tuesday. He said that 250 people of the sub-inspector (SI) batch undergoing training at the Bangladesh Police Academy have been dismissed on charges of breach of discipline.
According to the letter, the closing exercise parade of the 40th BCS (Police) Probationers Batch-2023 was going on at the Bangladesh Police Academy parade ground from 7:25 am on October 1. At this time breakfast was served to all the trainees participating in the parade as per the pre-determined menu by Bangladesh Police Academy Sarada, Rajshahi during the parade break. But you don’t eat the provided breakfast and create an extremely chaotic atmosphere in the field. You organized the other trainee cadet SIs and behaved in extreme disorder and insolence, humiliating the academy authorities. Apart from this, you go out of the training ground and go to your barracks at your own will while arguing with others. Such behavior as a trainee cadet SI and leaving the parade ground without permission to go to his barracks is totally indiscipline. Police Inspector Mohsin Ali (BP- 69/87001520) filed a written report against you with the Principal (Additional IGP) of Bangladesh Police Academy for indiscipline to the extent that your conduct has grossly disrupted the overall training program in the field and encouraged other trainees to break discipline.
The letter also said that the Superintendent of Police (Admin & Logistics) directed the principal of the academy to file an affidavit within three days. You file a reply to the apology within the prescribed three-day period. Your submitted apologetic response appears unsatisfactory on review. Your above indiscipline activities constitute a major hindrance and incompetence in the way of working in the post of Sub-Inspector, which is considered as an important and responsible post of Bangladesh Police.
Training of 823 cadet SI members began on 11 November 2023. The training was scheduled to end on November 4, 2024.
