Major General Sheikh Md Sarwar Hossain has joined as the new chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board. After joining, he paid a courtesy call on Commerce Ministry Secretary Mohang Salim Uddin at Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday. The chairman of the tea board discussed with the commerce secretary about the development plan and general issues of the tea board. The Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce assured him of full cooperation at work.

It should be noted that Major General Sheikh Md. Sarwar Hossain was born on January 10, 1972. He was commissioned in Infantry Corps with 25th Long Term Course from Bangladesh Military Academy on 20 December 1991. During his long professional career he was engaged in various important positions as command, staff and instructor.

Major General Sheikh Md. Sarwar served as Adjutant of Banbat-1/14, Brigade Major of 65 Infantry Brigade, Vice-Captain and Captain of 56th Bengal and Assistant MS in Senasadar, MS Branch as Staff Officer.

He is also Battalion Commander of East Bengal Regiment Training Battalion, Commander of HQ 44 Infantry Brigade and HQ 71 Mechanized Brigade, Director General Directorate of Defense Intelligence, Commandant of Army Security Unit and School of Infantry and Tactics and HQ Logistics Area and HQ Served as GOC and Area Commander of 10th Infantry Division. As an instructor, he served as Instructor Class-B of the School of Infantry and Tactics and as a Platoon Commander at the Bangladesh Military Academy.

He completed his graduation from Defense Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and NDC with honors from National Defense College, Mirpur. Among the foreign training, he completed Company Commander Tactics Course from Malaysia, Arms Forces Command and Staff College, Graduation from Saudi Arabia, Canadian Security Program from Canadian Forces College and International Director Intelligence Course held in the United States.

He successfully completed Masters in Defense Studies from Bangladesh National University and IBA degree from Dhaka University. He successfully served as a UN peacekeeper with UNBAT-7 in Iraq and Kuwait and as a Planning Officer in Ivory Coast with UNBAT-1/14 at UN Headquarters, New York. He was awarded the Sena Utkarsh Padak in recognition of his gallant/courageous acts by the Army.
